VO5 Extreme Dating Party

Well…… and then it was over!

Thanks to all that came along on Friday night to see our 10 finalists put through their paces.

Jay and Flynny were the hosts with the most for the evening and kicked things off by introducing our finalists to the crowd and giving a run through of what was to be expected of them  throughout the evening.  As we had said all along this was not for the faint hearted, and all finalists kicked things of in high gear with their best catwalk strut thanks to Jeanswest. It worked in their favour to woo the crowd and sadly we had to say goodbye to Sarah and Deno after this task.

Next on the list was a quick spin around the pole – it’s not a party without one! The finalists had 45 seconds to show us their best moves which ranged from beginners ability to acrobatics! The VO5 Extreme team scored them on their performance to give us the second tie of the night between Daisy and Jessica – Jay quickly nominated some poor unsuspecting guy from the crowd to become a human pole, and given that Jessica’s legs spanned longer than the poor guys height, it was bye bye to Daisy and Dan after this round!

Now I am definitely one for “less is more” –but unfortunately for the guys  the girls went for the “really more is more” approach for the VO5 Extreme Style Hair challenge.   Josh had to sit this one out as he had conveniently shaved his head – so Marty from FHM was the poor, unsuspecting substitute.  Maybe  because the girls were blindfolded for this one, but the guys have probably still got hair product in their hair!  No eliminations for this challenge as the contestants all did so well!

Coming down to the final 6 and the mechanical surfboard – yes and oldie but a goodie. Judged purely on the level of board intensity that the finalist managed to get to – no one cracked the hundy! But there were some perfect displays of what not to do! Sadly we fare welled Wayde and Tash who had the lowest scores for this challenge.

We have our final four: Katie, Jessica, Kyle and Josh. Two of these remaining 4 were going to score themselves an extreme date on Saturday morning, so it was straight into the lovely VO5 Extreme Style bar set up where the finalists had to use their best pick up lines on each other – this was a crowd pleaser – actually there was a rather questionable one-liner which wasn’t helped by the fact that Jay found it ridiculously hard to understand Kyle’s Canadian accent.  Katie was a crowd pleaser with her pirate ARRRGH which saw her win the Extreme date on Saturday morning with Josh. I can’t be sure if it was Josh’s pick up line that won it for him or if it was because Kyle’s was just that cringe worthy!

So Katie and Josh were our final 2 – picking up a prize pack of amazing VO5 products, a $500 Jeanswest wardrobe, a subscription to FHM or Cleo, Azzaro Twin Fragrance and other goodies along with the extreme date on Saturday.

They were not told of their fate until they reported in at 9am on Saturday morning (looking a little worse for wear I must say).

The ZM Thunder team dropped them off at Kelly Tarltons (via a much needed McDonald’s Breakfast stop) where they had an early morning Shark Dive (yes within a cage). From there it was time to leather up and jump on the back of a couple of Harleys for a quick tiki tour (over the Harbour Bridge in high winds) to their next destination  - Auckland Harbour Bridge Bungee, where we got Josh and Katie to jump for their lives.  Thankfully neither got dunked! Then it was a quick lift up to the Observatory at Sky City where their guests also got to join them for a much deserved lunch and no doubt share a few tales of the date as well as some antics from the previous night !

All in all a great success for the night, however only Josh and Katie will know how successful the date truly was!

Thanks once again for all you support and making this one hell of a night!

  • Nikki - Awesome job! Those pictures are all amnazig. Even Matt wouldn't stop talking about it and he HATES getting his picture taken usually and doesn't often like many pictures of himself, but he wouldn't stop talking about what an amnazig job you did! The one of my Mom, Guy and Jack brought tears to our eyes. Beautiful work. Report
